A Word of Welcome and Warning

Hello, loyal reader,

Welcome to my blog.

My name is Coda Napeland, and I've been writing fiction for the last two decades. As yet, I'm unpublished, but I find myself in good company. And so I'm glad to toil on: writing, editing, rewriting, submitting, until the one day I don't receive a rejection slip, but a bona fide approval of my work. My writing nearly always has dark overtones; sometimes, I write all-out horror, while others find me writing science fiction, thriller/mystery, satire and fantasy. It all latches on the landscape of my imagination, and where the wind blows my mind's eye.

I started this blog as an alternative outlet. I'll talk about the writing process, pitfalls and successes, taking some stories from conception to publication. I'll complain when I'm behind on my daily word count, and rejoice (with offers of internet cookies and milk) with my friends and followers when I'm over my goal. And I'll probably post some short fiction to give my readers a taste of what they can expect from my longer works.

Blogs connect people, sometimes people who would have never met "in real life", sometimes people on complete opposite sides of the issues. They bring us together and, if we're lucky, we're forced to step outside our protective bubble. We see things from different perspectives, and gain insight into the lives of people all over the world. I hope that my blog can be a small thread in my connection to my readers. You may be few in number -- some of you may not even know you're fans yet -- but I appreciate you all the same.

I encourage feedback! I'd like your questions, comments, praise and criticisms. I want to know what you like about my blog, and what about it you find repellent. Do you have suggestions for a future topic? How did you feel about my last post? Did you link to my blog from Twitter, Facebook, tumblr, Myspace, Google+? Do you hate everything you see on my blog? I want to know.

As always, loyal reader, I thank you for your attention.

All My Best,
Coda
